True Religion was goooood. Like read-it-again-and-suggest-your-husband-and-kids-read-it-too good.
The subtitle "taking places of heaven to places of hell on earth" sums up the author's point-of-view pretty well: we are to take our abundantly blessed lives and pour them out to the poor and helpless. He speaks mostly of Africa and Cuba, those being the places he's most acquainted with working.
I tried, as I was reading it, to bring my thoughts back to local missionary work, since that's what I'm involved in, and I don't see a need to *go* to Africa to work, when there's so much to be done here, although I might be enticed to send money through a reputable mission work to help in Africa. But the basic thoughts ring true, wherever you're working: DO the work, Spread Love to everyone you meet, seek Peace. And with that being said, I need to get ready to head down to the food bank and do just that. :)
